    NICHOLS
    The Nichols family reunion will be held July 10 at Kincaid Lake State Park in Falmouth, Ky. A potluck meal will be served at 1 p.m. at the big shelter. All friends and relatives are invited.

    The Richardson, Franklin, and Ritchie reunion will be held Saturday, July 9 at the Richardson home place on Peak Lane beginning at 11 a.m. Bring a covered dish. Lunch will begin at noon. Meat, plates, and flatware will be provided.

  • Smith to celebrate 90th birthday

    The family of Ishmael Smith invites all family and friends to his 90th birthday celebration on Sunday, July 10 from 2-3:30 p.m. at Indian Creek Christian Church. He requests no gifts just your presence.
    He is married to Wyoma Allison Smith.  They have one son, Keith (Joyce) Smith and one daughter, Sheila (Rick) Schuler, six grandchildren and two great-granddaughters.

    * Log Cabin, Dec. 12, 1941 -- “4-H Members to Sell Jimson Weed. A letter has gone out to 4-H members in this county from County Agent H.H. Thompson advising that the uncultivated Jimson weed they have been gathering is to be received and weighed at the E. M. Smith and Son hardware store here Saturday afternoon. A buyer-representative is to be here to purchase the offering. Thompson said that the Jimson weed is being used as medicinal ingredient.”

    10 years ago . . .
    Birth announced this week are: Dylan Joseph Scott Harris, May 26, son of Jessica Riggle and Simon Harris.
    Father Louis Brinker retires from St. Edward Catholic Church. Brinker was ordained into the Diocese in 1950, and was transferred to St. Edwards on July 1, 1983.
    Robert Gregg, Harrison County band director, is stepping down as the band’s leader. A reception is being planned.
    On-Call Supply opens in community is located at 213 S. Walnut St. and is owned and operated by Scott and Kris Humphrey.

  • Beagle-Campbell to wed July 9

    Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Beagle of Cynthiana announce the engagement and upcoming marriage of their daughter, Miranda Leigh, to Brett James Campbell, son of Mr. and Mrs. Steve Campbell of Lexington, Ky.
    Beagle is a 2005 graduate of Paris High School and a 2010 graduate of Morehead State University with a BS in Health Promotion.
    Campbell is a 2005 graduate of Henry Clay High School and a 2009 graduate of Morehead State University with a BA in Sport Management.

  • Williamses to celebrate anniversary

    L. T. and Sue Williams will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on June 30.
    The couple were married on June 30, 1961 in Kelat, Ky. by J. Baldwin Stilz of Benson Methodist Church.

  • Kauffmans honored with dinner party

    William Joseph and Linda Sellers Kauffman of Huntsville, Ala., celebrated their 50th anniversary on March 12 at Grandmother’s House Restaurant. Their children hosted the gathering.
    The couple were married March 12, 1961 in Greenfield, Ohio. They have two sons, Billy (Leah) of Huntsville and Doug (Julie) of Hoover, Ala., and four grandchildren. Many out-of-state relatives attended the dinner party.

  • Duncan finalist in scholarship program

    Hannah Malee Duncan, daughter of Gary and Teresa Duncan of Cynthiana, has been selected as a finalist in the Pre-Teen Kentucky Scholarship and Recognition Program to be held July 1-3 at the Hyatt Regency in Lexington.

  • Dawson Robert Purvis

    Dawson Robert Purvis was born to James Purvis and Rhonda Yarnell of Cynthiana on May 23, 2011 at Harrison Memorial Hospital. He weighed 7 lbs. 7 oz., and is welcomed by his brother, Devan Justice.
    Maternal grandparents are David and Sherry Chapman of Cynthiana.
    Paternal grandparents are Danny and Sharon Purvis of Carlisle, Ky.

  • Isaac Stanley Aulick

    Isaac Stanley Aulick was born to Bradley and Lesley Aulick of Louisville, Ky. on March 25, 2011 at Norton Suburban Hospital in Louisville. He weighed 8 lbs. 2 oz., and is welcomed by his brother, Silas Howard.
    Grandparents are Terry and Sue Allgood of Custer and Larry and Kathy Aulick of Cynthiana.
    Great-grandparents are Wade and Norma Chappell of Irvington and the late Donald Breeden, Alma Allgood of Custer and the late Howard Allgood, the late Oral and Alta Aulick of Cynthiana and the late Harvey and Ruie Cummins of Falmouth.
