    The person with addiction faces social obstacles that make it difficult to recover. Namely, this occurs when others enable the addiction to continue. By the time the addiction has developed, the individual has formed “a system of personnel” that willingly or inadvertently, permit the ongoing use.

  • Noble-Morris plan fall wedding

    Mr. and Mrs. George M. Noble announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Lyndsie Arielle Noble, to James Aaron Morris, son of Mr. and Mrs. James (Jimmy) T. Morris, all of Cynthiana.
    Noble is a 2009 graduate of HCHS and is attending MCTC. She is employed by Cynthiana WalMart. She is the granddaughter of Larry K. and the (late) Joyce Fuller and Daniel L. and the (late) Goldie Noble, all of Cynthiana.

    Anton Allic Zander Wills was born to Laura Ashley and Michael Wills of Cynthiana on July 25, 2011 at Harrison Memorial Hospital.
    He weighed 7 lbs. 4 oz., and is welcomed by his brother Drew and sisters Tracy and Emma.
    Maternal grandparents are Mary Frances and Jesse Smith of Carlisle, Ky. and Harold and Kay Coy of Cynthiana; maternal great-grandparents are Virginia Coy and the late Harold Coy Sr. and the late Martha Morgan and Orvil Sexton.
    Paternal grandmother is Lisa Gilbert of Cynthiana; paternal great-grandparents are Nettie Meeks and the late Bob Meeks.

  • Dawson Tyler Gano Williams

    Joseph and Tiffany Williams announce the birth of their son, Dawson Tyler Gano Williams, on June 5, 2011 at Central Baptist Hospital, Lexington, Ky.
    Maternal grandparents are Gano Reynolds and Angela Bussell of Cynthiana.
    Paternal grandparents are Tony and Donna Melchiorre of Nicholasville, Ky.; paternal great-grandparents are LT and Sue Williams of Cynthiana.

  • Sadie Elizabeth Hamm

    Sadie Elizabeth Hamm was born to Kacey Hamm of Cynthiana on July 20, 2011 at Harrison Memorial Hospital. She weighed 8 lbs. 6 oz., and is welcomed by her sister Emma Grace Hamm.
    Maternal grandparents are Michelle and Paul Foster and Tim French of Cynthiana; maternal great-grandparents are Wanda and Len Civin, Marilyn and Ronnie Whalen, Melvin and Kathy French, Kathy and David Foster, and Ed and Sharon Ratcliff.

  • Museum Musings

    This Saturday, Aug. 27, is the last day for the exhibit ‘Journey Stories’ in our hometown. The traveling exhibit housed at the Cynthiana-Harrison County Chamber of Commerce building is sponsored by the Cynthiana-Harrison County Museum, the Kentucky Humanities Council, and the Smithsonian Institute.

  • Reunions

    MULLIGAN
    The descendants of George Lewis (1844-1923), and Mary William Ritchie Mulligan (1850-1943) will hold their annual reunion on Saturday, Sept. 3 at the Harrison County fairgrounds, 4-H building. The reunion will start at 10 a.m. with potluck lunch at 12:30 p.m. Bring covered dishes, canned goods for food pantry and items for auction.
    Schedule of events: 10-11 a.m. registration, door prize tickets; 11-12:30 p.m. meet your relatives; 12:30- 1:30 p.m. covered dish lunch; 1:30- 2:30 p.m. auction; 2:30- 3:15 p.m. magician, Mark Comley; 3:15- 3:30 p.m. door prizes.

  • Adams selected to compete in Renfro Valley talent contest

    Jarett Clay Adams has been selected to compete in Renfro Valley’s talent contest to be held Friday, Sept. 2 at 7 p.m.
    Adams has been doing karaoke for about four years with his brother Justin. They travel to different places to perform.
    He is the son of Ronnie and Dee Dee Adams, and the grandson of Phyllis Schwartz and the late John R. Hudgins.
    Adams is 11 years old and a fifth grader at Southside Elementary School.

  • KET’s Kentucky Life to begin new season Sept. 10

    Kentucky Life host Dave Shuffett begins the series’ 17th year of highlighting the people and places of Kentucky, beginning with Frankfort’s cultural landmarks, the Owensboro Museum of Fine Art, exotic palms and cacti in southeastern Kentucky, and more. The series airs Saturdays, Sept. 10 at 8/7 p.m. on KET; Sundays, beginning Sept. 11 at 4:30/3:30 p.m. on KET; and Sundays, beginning Sept. 11 at 7:30/6:30 p.m. on KET2.
