  • Cordrays to celebrate 50th anniversary Oct. 14

    David Nelson and Peggy Ann Taylor Cordray will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Friday, Oct. 14. The couple were married at Unity Christian Church by the Rev. John Guilfoil.
    Neva Taylor served as her sister’s maid of honor, and John Nelson Ritchie was his cousin’s best man.
    David is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jackson T. McCauley.
    Peggy is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Taylor.

    Natalie Elaine Dryden was born to Summer and Rodney Dryden of Cynthiana on Aug. 11, 2011 at Central Baptist Hospital. She weighed 7 lbs. 8 oz.
    Maternal grandparents are Mary and Jim Riddell of Cynthiana and Chris and Robin Allan of Georgetown; maternal great-grandparents are John and Willia Troxell of Cynthiana and the late Thomas and Alfreda Allan of Michigan.
    Paternal grandparents are Tonya and Anthony Dryden of Cynthiana; paternal great-grandparents are Linda and Wayne Dryden of Cynthiana and James Gaunce of Cynthiana and the late Beverly Gaunce.

  • Jacobs to celebrate 90th birthday

    On Saturday, Oct. 22, from 2-4:30 p.m., a 90th birthday celebration will be held for Mrs. Clyde (Pauline) Jacobs at the Watson Community building in Brooksville, Ky.
    The party is hosted by her family, Paul W. Jacobs, Faye (Eddie) Chinn, William (Kathy) Jacobs, Charles Hayes, and Scott (Sarah) Jacobs.
    Family members and friends are invited to stop by and wish her a happy birthday. No gifts please.

  • Clyde-Greenwood exchange vows

    Melinda McKee Clyde, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. James S. Clyde of Cynthiana, and Christopher Noel Greenwood, son of Mr. and Mrs. Gary W. Greenwood of Milton, Ky., were married at 5:30 p.m. on July 2, 2011, at Cynthiana Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Patrick Laney officiated the ceremony.
    The bride is the granddaughter of the late W.E. and Mary Clyde of Beloit, Wisc., and the late William and Anna Myers McKee of Cynthiana.
    The groom is the grandson of the late Ernest and Kathryn Straub of Madison, Ind., and the late Clyde and Bernice Greenwood of Milton, Ky.

  • Cynthiana Chapter DAR holds September meeting in Georgetown

    The Cynthiana Chapter of the DAR met at Wilshire’s Restaurant in Georgetown on Sept. 10.
    Melinda Rawlings, Regent, called the meeting to order and welcomed guests and members.
    The DAR Ritual, Pledge of Allegiance and the American’s Creed were recited, followed by singing of the Star Spangled Banner.
    The President General’s message was read by Judith Rawlings. Jane Whitehead read the National Defense message, and Kimberly Brooks read the Conservation Minute.
