  • Cynthiana Fire Department Safety Day and Fire Prevention Week

    The Cynthiana fire department teamed up with Walmart for their annual Safety Day and Fire Prevention Week. A muster show with firefighter competitions and a parade was held Saturday, Oct. 15 with a chili competition following the parade at Flat Run Veterans Park. A smoke trailer, fire truck ride, helicopters, Ronald McDonald, Kentucky Utilities and fire trucks from all over were on site.

  • Hatfield inducted into the Department of Family & Juvenile Services Hall of Fame

    Former Harrison County court designated worker Billy Hatfield has been inducted into the Department of Family & Juvenile Services Hall of Fame.
    Hatfield is among the first inductees in the new Hall of Fame.
    He began his work with the  Administrative Office of the Courts as a CDW in 1987 for Harrison, Pendleton, Robertson and Nicholas counties.
    In 1999 he became a field supervisor for the northeastern region and was named assistant general manager in 2003, where he remained until his retirement on 2007.

  • Cordrays to celebrate 50th anniversary Oct. 14

    David Nelson and Peggy Ann Taylor Cordray will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Friday, Oct. 14. The couple were married at Unity Christian Church by the Rev. John Guilfoil.
    Neva Taylor served as her sister’s maid of honor, and John Nelson Ritchie was his cousin’s best man.
    David is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jackson T. McCauley.
    Peggy is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Taylor.

  • Natalie Elaine Dryden

    Natalie Elaine Dryden was born to Summer and Rodney Dryden of Cynthiana on Aug. 11, 2011 at Central Baptist Hospital. She weighed 7 lbs. 8 oz.
    Maternal grandparents are Mary and Jim Riddell of Cynthiana and Chris and Robin Allan of Georgetown; maternal great-grandparents are John and Willia Troxell of Cynthiana and the late Thomas and Alfreda Allan of Michigan.
    Paternal grandparents are Tonya and Anthony Dryden of Cynthiana; paternal great-grandparents are Linda and Wayne Dryden of Cynthiana and James Gaunce of Cynthiana and the late Beverly Gaunce.

  • Jacobs to celebrate 90th birthday

    On Saturday, Oct. 22, from 2-4:30 p.m., a 90th birthday celebration will be held for Mrs. Clyde (Pauline) Jacobs at the Watson Community building in Brooksville, Ky.
    The party is hosted by her family, Paul W. Jacobs, Faye (Eddie) Chinn, William (Kathy) Jacobs, Charles Hayes, and Scott (Sarah) Jacobs.
    Family members and friends are invited to stop by and wish her a happy birthday. No gifts please.
