  • Harrison County Homemaker Community Day Celebration

    The Harrison County Homemaker Community Day Celebration will be held Friday, May 9 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Courthouse Square.
    The day will offer a bake sale, the Kentucky Bloodmobile will set-up from 10:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., Green Thumb Fair with cuttings of plants from the homemakers gardens, bedding plants and bulbs, and door prizes. The Harrison County Beef Cattle Association will also be cooking steak sandwiches and hamburgers.
    The event is sponsored by the Harrison County Extension Homemakers and the Harrison County Beef Cattle Association.

    Myiah Love Withrow was born to Mariah Smiley and Michael Withrow of Cynthiana on March 26, 2014 at Harrison Memorial Hospital.
    She weighed 6 lbs. 10 oz.
    Maternal grandparents are Jimmy and Robin Smiley of Cynthiana; maternal great-grandparents are Justin and Lois Bell of Cynthiana, and Ana Smiley of Cynthiana and the late Garnett Smiley.

  • Horschler-Nutter plan June wedding

    Kaylynn Rose Marie Horschler of Cynthiana, and Justin Brett Nutter of Opelika, Ala., announce their engagement and forthcoming marriage.
    Horschler is the daughter of William and Kimberly True of Cynthiana, and William and Javiah Horschler.
    Nutter is the son of Paula Nutter of Opelika, and George and Jo Lynn Nutter.
    The wedding will take place June 14, 2014 at 3 p.m. at First Church of God. A reception will follow the ceremony at the Cynthiana Country Club at 5 p.m.

    Millersburg Garden Club met on Thursday, March 13 at 5th Street Café. Member Robert Barker donated the use of his facility for the “High Tea and Hat Decorating Contest.”

    Births announced this week are: Savannah Lee Irvin, Nov. 20, daughter of Kelly Ritchie and Travis Irvin; Van Conner Lee Murphy, March 22, son of Adam and Andrea Murphy.
    Students in the construction class at Harrison County Area Tecnology Center are building a replica of the John Hunt Morgan Bridge as a class project. Plans are to move the bridge to the Handy Farm park.
    First co-ed track meet competition will be this weekend in Rowan County.

    Haylee “Starr” Hindbaugh, 13, has been selected as a state finalist in the National American Miss Kentucky Pageant to be held May 9-11 at Crowne Plaza in Louisville.

  • Omega takes lead for Founder’s Day/Honors Night for Cynthiana sororities

    Omega chapter of Beta Sigma Phi sorority met on Thursday, March 13, at the home of Barbara Snopek.  
    The January and February meetings were cancelled due to extreme weather.
    Twelve members answered roll call by answering the question “What have you enjoyed about this winter?”  Some members actually found positive answers to this, most enjoying the snow.
