  • Owen-Cumming plan spring wedding

    Colonel (Ret.) and Mrs. Robert A. Owen announce the engagement of their daughter, Jennifer Chowning Owen, to Alexander Anson Cumming, son of Gregory and Christine Cumming of Fairfax, Va.

  • Arnold-Nichols to marry Sept. 3

    Carey Matthew Arnold (Slim) of Cynthiana, and Amelia H. Nichols of Berry, will unite in marriage on Sept. 3, 2011 at the home of the bride-to-be.
    Nichols is the daughter of Charles and Frances Looney of Berry. She is employed by Harrison Deposit Bank.
    Arnold is the son of Carey and Lisa Arnold of Cynthiana. He is employed by E-Z Pak.
    A reception will be held after the ceremony.

  • Museum Musings

    * Veterans - All of us at the Cynthiana-Harrison County Museum encourage veterans of all wars to share their stories. Have you visited the museum military rooms? Is your story recorded?
    * There are two huge notebooks at the museum containing the narratives of local veterans. Truly a wealth of information. Is your story included? Or perhaps your spouse or parent or grandparent has an account which should be saved? There is a reading room available at the museum - one cannot imagine the heartwarming, courageous stories.

  • Hill takes first flight at age 87

    Frances H. Hill took her first airplane ride at the age of 87 at the Cynthiana-Harrison County Airport in the spring. Her pilot was her son, Frank Hill, of Otowah, Tenn., and the owner of the plane.

  • Wiggins advances to semi-finals in Coca-Cola Talent Classic

    Brooklin Wiggins of Cynthiana has qualified to compete in the 2011 Coca-Cola Talent Classic Semi-Finals competition at the Kentucky State Fair. She will be competing Saturday, Aug. 20 at 12:30 p.m. in the South Wing Conference Center.

  • Wiggins receives Sponsorship award from LVBPW Organization

    Courtney Wiggins, daughter of Marty and Patty Wiggins, received the Licking Valley Business and Professional Women’s $300 Sponsorship for college.
    Wiggins will be attending Eastern Kentucky University this fall. She and her parents attended a luncheon on Wednesday, July 13 and Martha Sullivan, past president, presented the check on behalf of the club. Wiggins was also informed that she was now a member of the Licking Valley Business and Professional Organization and the club paid her fees.

  • Licking Valley BPW receives awards at state conference

    The Licking Valley BPW Club (Business and Professional Women) had six members to attended the 89th Kentucky Federation of Business and Professional Women’s Club, Inc. State Conference held June 3 and 4 in Bowling Green, Ky.

  • Taden Christopher Cracraft

    Taden Christopher Cracraft was born to Christopher and Angela Cracraft of Cynthiana on April 21, 2011 at Central Baptist Hospital. He weighed 6 lbs. 15 oz., and is welcomed by his brother Sawyer Glenn Cracraft.
    Maternal grandparents are Vivian Robison and Jarvis Agee of Campbellsville, Ky.; maternal great-grandchildren are Bonnie Robison and the late Wigg Robison and the late James and Lena Agee, all of Campbellsville.

  • Aribella Deniece Bell

    Aribella Deniece Bell was born to Shawn and Lydia Bell of Berry, Ky. on July 10, 2011 at Harrison Memorial Hospital. She weighed 8 lbs. 11 oz., and is welcomed by her sisters Kacey Elizabeth and Destiny Bell.
    Maternal grandparents are Randy and Julie Cole of Cynthiana; maternal great-grandparents are Randall and Pansy Cole and Pat Wilson.
    Paternal grandparents are John and Letha Bell of Cynthiana; paternal great-grandparents are the late Elva Bell and and the late Mary Lou Nichols.

    COPES
    The 40th annual Copes reunion was held Sunday, Aug. 7 at the Raphael Patrick Fellowship Building at the Upper Curry United Methodist Church. Following a short business meeting, Willie Riggle offered the blessing of a bountiful meal.  Approximately 62 family and friends were in attendance.
