    A Soup Dinner and Basket Auction will be held Friday, Nov. 20 at the National Guard Armory located on New Lair Road, Cynthiana. Dinner will start at 5:45 p.m. and will be served through-out the evening. Dinner will consist of: various soups, sandwich, drink, and desert for a love donation. Basket Auction will start at 7 p.m., and consist of several theme baskets, three refinished trunks with some antique items in them, various Longaberger Baskets, several country hams, Kentucky, Louisville and Tennessee items, with several various other items.

    Fall Tasks Gardening Program. Thursday, Oct. 22. Develop your own checklist of things to do to help the garden and the gardener survive the winter-what to do and what not to do. This program is being presented by John Duke, a certified Master Gardener and Master Composter. He is the founder of the American Compost Society. Pre-registration is appreciated.

    Historical Society. Harrison County Historical Society will meet Thursday, Oct. 15 at 7 p.m. at the Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library. The speaker will be Sarah Kinney who will present a program about Women of Harrison County. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend.

    Bookmobile. The Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library Bookmobile will be available Friday, Oct. 16 in Robynwood Heights from 2-3 p.m.

  • Teen Read Week is Oct. 18-24

    The Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library is sponsoring a banned book essay contest.

    Read a banned book and discuss why you think it was banned. Include your feelings and reactions to the book, and whether or not you think the book should be banned.

    Write an essay about censorship. Explain what censorship is and how it affects our lives historically, politically, or economically.

    • Each entry should be at least one page in length. Contest ends Oct. 10.
