The newest book club selection is Funny Cide: How a Horse, a Trainer, a Jockey, and a Bunch of High School Buddies Took on The Sheiks and Bluebloods…and Won by The Funny Cide Team with Sally Jenkins. The book is available for pick-up at the front desk of the Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library. The men’s group will meet to discuss the book on Thursday, Aug. 26 at 5:30 p.m. The women’s group will be meeting on Thursday, Sept. 2 at 6 p.m.

    Cynthiana Board of Adjustment will meet Thursday, Aug. 12 at 6 p.m. in the Planning Commission Office at the Harrison County Courthouse, South Main Street. Meetings are open to the public.

    FRIDAY, Aug. 13

    Yard Sale and Bake Sale will be held Aug. 13 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Cedar Ridge Health Campus. All proceeds go to the Alzheimer's Association.

    A fish fry and gospel music program will be held Friday, Aug. 20 at the Harrison County 4-H Grounds.

    The fish fry will start at 5 p.m.  with music starting at 6 p.m., featuring Unity Christian Church Quartet, Carol Cole, Michael Goodwin, Dottie and Wilma Duckworth, Earl Gross, and others.

    Cost of the meal and one drink is $6 per plate. Extra drinks and deserts can be purchased for an additional fee.  The community is welcome to attend.
