  • My Father loves me, this I know

I am a product of the 60-70’s. I hit my teen years wearing bell bottoms, 4-inch platform shoes and a rebellious spirit. Words like dysfunctional family or abusive parenting were not known then.

  • 'Oh Death, Where is Thy Sting?'

For me, last week began and ended with funerals.

  • Climbing the Hill Mountain

It was my third week of not selling books my first summer of college. I arrived at yet another house on a street that required climbing 10-12 steps to reach the elevation of the yard.

  • The Joy of Being a Sinner

Every once in a while, like 20 or 50 times a day, I wonder if I’ll ever get better.
I wonder if my faith will ever grow deeper or stronger, if I’ll ever have more passion for God, more desire for holiness.
Sometimes I think I must surely be the sorriest excuse for a Christian in the history of Christendom.
Sometimes people ask me when my next book is coming out, and I tell them probably never. I explain that the publishing market has changed dramatically, which is true, and that people don’t buy books the way they used to, also true.

    CENTRAL CHRISTIAN
The Team Story fund raiser that was planned for March 2 at Central Christian Church, Second and Riggs, was canceled due to the weather.  The event has been rescheduled for Sunday, March 9.

  • Prepped and ready for Lent

These past few weeks I have been diligently preparing for Lent.
    How, you ask?
Well, two weeks ago I found a pair of stone-colored flats online at 30 percent off and bought them. And today I bought a pair of white pants that were on sale (plus I used a $10 off coupon).
Even though it’s only early March and I have several or five pairs of white pants in my closet, they are all Capri-length and these are ankle-length, which is more suited to this time of year, or so I am telling myself.

  • The best kind of change

Everyone needs to change. The best kind of change occurs inside us rather than outside.
