  • It’s never wise to mess with a mom

This past week I wrote a story in the Chronicle about a baby born 14 weeks premature who faces all kinds of health problems.
That she survived at all is a miracle, and her family, especially her grandmother, knows that this baby, Hannah, is a gift from God.

  • A gift from Mrs. Polly

I was reading this past week of the death of Garo Yepremian, former member of the Miami Dolphins professional football team. He was very instrumental in assisting the Dolphins win back to back NFL championships  during the early 1970s.
Yepremian was a native of Cyprus. He came to the United States at the age of 22 and had the distinction of kicking in the first football game he ever saw.
During this time in my life, Anna and I were living in Paris, Ky.

    CALVARY ASSEMBLY OF GOD
Calvary Assembly of God, 325 Webster Ave., will be welcoming new pastors, Steve and Crystal Perry.
The Perrys are from Fulton, Kentucky. He began preaching at 16 years old and has been in the ministry for over 20 years.
His wife began singing in church when she was 2 years old and now is a strong support in their ministry.
The congregation invites the community to join them in welcoming Cynthiana’s newest ministers on Sunday, May 17.
Sunday School begins at 9:45 a.m. followed by morning worship at 10:45 a.m.

  • Are you a good person?

Dateline NBC did a story recently on a murderer who had been convicted of hiring hitmen to kill his wife of 20 years.
As I was flipping channels, I became intrigued by this story. From the outside, this man looked like a “good man.”  He went to church on Sunday, had a high level executive job, had two beautiful children, and a faithful wife.  The family appeared to have acquired the American Dream.

  • Reaching the big 4-0

Forty years ago, a very young man I barely knew got into his 1973 white and orange Ford Comet and said he was going to the store to buy film for his camera.
I said to this very young man I barely knew, “You’re coming back, aren’t you?”
Later that morning, this very young man I barely knew and I, also very young, had plans to get married.
We were both stationed at Loring Air Force Base in Limestone, Maine, two miles from the Canadian border, and there were patches of snow on the ground.
    It was May 3, 1975.
