  • Grace for thieves like me

Just when I think I’m beyond doing something particularly horrendous and downright wrong, I do it.
I stole a packet of Sweet ‘N Low the other day.
I put it back, because I felt guilty. Actually, I put it back because my daughter caught me, and then I felt guilty. But putting it back doesn’t change the fact that I’m a Sweet ‘N Low thief.

  • Death loses, Jesus wins

On Oct. 26, a woman named Terri married the man of her dreams, and on Nov. 12, her new husband, Mike, went in for surgery for a lump on his jaw and had 9/10 of his tongue removed.
Mike is dying from oral cancer, slowly and painfully.
I’ve been following their saga on Facebook. It is both incredibly sad and filled with sweetness and an ultimate happily-ever-after ending.
Here are some of Terri’s most recent Facebook posts:

  • In praise of the stupid dance

In case you haven’t heard of Matt Harding, let me tell you about him.
A former video game designer, at age 23 he quit his job to travel around Southeast Asia until his money ran out.
While he was in Hanoi taking photos, his traveling buddy said, “Hey, why don’t you stand over there and do your stupid dance and I’ll record it?”
Harding did his stupid signature dance and thought the video was funny, so he started doing it and recording it everywhere he went on his trip and posted it on his blog for his friends to see.

  • "You don't know God"

Back in 2001, my pastor announced to the congregation, “You don’t know God.”
He went on to say, “If you think there’s somebody too hard for God to reach or a situation too difficult for him to fix, then you don’t know God. You don’t know what he’s able and willing to do in a person’s life.”
