With every stitch, Mary Ann Upton remembers. Five years ago, she watched her newborn grandson fight for his life. He was born with a heart defect that lead to open heart surgery when he was only three days old. In the midst of all the worry and pain, the local chapter of Project Linus brought the baby a blanket.
“It’s put up now,” said the grandmother of five. “One day, maybe he’ll take it out and tell the story to his children. It really meant a lot. Hospitals can be so cold and impersonal. What Project Linus did was so good.”

If I were God, I would’ve made people with delay devices on their mouths or a filter of some kind.
For example, when your brain wants to say, “Poodles aren’t real dogs,” before it comes out of your mouth the delay device would kick in and send you a message: “Really? Is that really what you want to say in front of this group of people who may or may not include poodle owners?”

It’s not every day that I get “three free sins” in the mail, but today I did.
Unfortunately, I used them up even before I got the envelope opened.
I’m talking about Bible teacher, author and Christian radio personality Steve Brown’s new book, “Three Free Sins,” subtitled, “God’s Not Mad at You.”
The title comes from Steve’s former call-in radio program where he gave callers three free sins — six if they called on a cell phone.

Live, Laugh and Love special women’s event will be held Saturday, Feb. 25 from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Journey Church in Harrison Square (next to Autozone). Tickets are $5 each and all proceeds will be donated to Refuge for Women.
