  • All have value in God’s eyes

The fact that you’re only one believer among bazillions doesn’t cheapen your value to God.
If you were the only person on the planet, Christ still would have died for you. The Bible proves that point:
When God first issued his promise to rescue sinful humankind, there was only one couple on earth.
After Adam and Eve sinned, God promised to crush Satan’s head. [Cool, huh?]
God was talking about the victory over sin that Christ’s death on the cross would bring.

  • Husband’s helping hand gives glimpse into God’s giving

Years ago, my granddaughter Caroline couldn’t be trusted to not make a run for it in a crowd.
As a toddler, she was notorious for breaking loose from my daughter’s grasp and taking off running. She was also fearless and overly friendly when it came to approaching strangers and, if given the chance, would follow anyone anywhere, especially if offered candy or a puppy or a sip of Diet Coke.

  • Freedom to worship in varying ways something to be thankful for

The dictionary tells us that worship is reverent honor and homage paid to God or a sacred personage, or to any object regarded as sacred.
The Bible tells us worship means to “express praise and devotion.”
For me personally, I love to worship God with music and sing praise songs.
The Bible says this about worship; 1 Chronicles 16:29 NLT – “Give to the Lord the glory he deserves!
Bring your offering and come into his presence.
Worship the Lord in all his holy splendor.”

  • Remember those killed in South Carolina

I have a copy of Chuck Coleson’s 1992 book, The Body: Being Light In Darkness.
Sometimes I take it from the shelf, read and reflect on the stories presented.
    They express  transformation.
One person surrenders life to bring God’s redemptive expression to others.
Coleson writes of excruciating sacrifice. No denomination dominates the narrative. Pastors, priests and rabbis minister to individuals and groups inside and outside their traditions. The transcending stories bear witness of the power of God.

  • Sometimes tragedies are actually mercies

Over the years I’ve heard hundreds of stories from people about how they came to faith in Christ, or how God delivered them from something that had them bound or how they were drawn closer to God because of a certain situation.
More often than not, the circumstances that precede the turning point or the epiphany or the moment of surrender or rescue are dire, tragic, painful. Sometimes the painful situation is what God uses to bring a person from no faith to new faith or running from God to running to him.

  • Liars' pants should really be on fire

I don’t know about you, but I hate being lied to.
A few weeks ago we drove to Tampa, which is about 70 miles from where we live. That same day, we needed to go to Port Charlotte, which is south of Tampa.
    How far south, you ask?
Well, according to the “distance between two cities” online calculator I used, Port Charlotte is 70 miles south of Tampa.
    Except the calculator lied.
We drove and drove and drove and about 110 miles later got to Port Charlotte.
    I hate being lied to.
