Youth basketball gets underway this weekend on the Hilltop

Fifteen different youth basketball teams will descend on the Hilltop this weekend as the hardwood season gets underway.

Sponsored by the Cynthiana/Harrison County Youth Basketball Association, this weekend’s tournament will feature 15 teams in four different age groups from Harrison County, Paris, Scott County, Bracken County, Mason County and Lexington.

All three Hilltop gymnasiums will be utilized on Saturday for pool play games, with single elimination tournaments being held on Sunday.

Three fourth grade games will begin on Saturday at Southside Elementary with Harrison County taking on the Lexington Bobcats at 12:30. At 2:45, the Bobcats take on Mason County and at 5, Mason County plays Harrison County.

Two fifth grade games will be held at Southside on Saturday with Scott County playing Pendleton County at 1:45, followed by Harrison County hosting Mason County, at 2:45. Four more fifth grade games will be held on one of two HCMS courts on Saturday, with Harrison playing Scott at 11:30, Pendleton playing Harrison at 4 , Scott taking on Mason at 5 and Mason playing Pendleton at 6:15.

The sixth grade pool games will be held at both HCMS gyms on Saturday. Harrison plays Paris and Scott takes on Pendleton at 9:15 Saturday morning to tip-off sixth grade pool play. At 11:30 Paris plays Scott, Harrison takes on Pendleton at 12:30, Paris goes against Pendleton at 1:45 and Harrison plays Scott at 2:45.

Seventh grade games will also be held at the HCMS gymnasium. In that pool, Harrison plays Paris and Bracken tips off against Pendleton at 10:15. At 12:30, Harrison plays Bracken, followed by Bracken going against Paris at 1:45, Harrison playing Pendleton at 2:45 and Paris playing Pendleton at 5.

Four eighth grade teams will play six games at the Harrison County High School gymnasium starting at 10:15 a.m. Saturday. At that time Bracken plays Pendleton, followed by Harrison taking on Bracken at 11:30, Pendleton playing Paris at 12:30, Pendleton playing Harrison at 1:45, Bracken going against Paris at 2:45 and Harrison playing Paris at 4.
