To the editor:

Most of you already know that Thomas, D.J. and I lost everything we owned in a house fire on Monday, March 16. We have so many people to offer our thanks to.

First of all, I would like to thank all those who called and reported the fire. We’d like to thank Brad Marshall and Joe (our mailman) for knocking on doors and windows to make sure nobody was home. Next, we want to thank the firefighters for all they did for us. Personally, myself, I want to thank Robert Newcomb for comforting me and giving me support when I needed it most.

We also want to thank our families for being there when we got out of the vehicle and for taking care of us also. We want to thank our church family for their loving kindness, especially Bobby Duncan, our minister, for being there on the scene with us. Others that we want to thank are the other churches in the community, The Food Pantry, The Clothing Closet, The Red Cross, neighbors, friends, my co-workers at Family Home Health, Thomas’ co-workers at Trane and UAW Local 912, and everyone else for all you have done. The prayers, letters, gifts and kindness has been greatly appreciated.

We want to thank the community for coming together to help us. It’s amazing and words can NEVER express how much we appreciate all you have done and how much it means to us. This is a wonderful community and we are so thankful to be a part of it.

D.J. would like to thank all the kids who have given him clothes, toys and money to buy new toys. He is thrilled with everything and it was very generous for all of you to think of him.
