The property where Harrison Motor Company, corner of East Bridge and South Main, has been doing business for over 65 years has been sold. Purchasing the property were Harrison Deposit Bank and Trust Company, Ronnie Small-owner of Small’s Car Care, and Roger Gasser-owner of Bridge Street Drive-In Liquor Store. Future plans for the property were still not clear. The Harrison Motor Company has been owned by the Rees family. E.N. Rees and Stanley Rees started the Harrison Motor Garage business in 1919 and in 1930 Garnett Rees joined the firm and eventually became the owner. Garnett’s son, Milton, has been in the business for 31 years and is the last generation to own the company.

Charles C. McCarty Jr. of Brooksville will be associated with Whaley Funeral Home beginning Jan. 1.
A new coin-operated automatic laundry will be opened soon in a section of the former Dr. Pepper plant building, Poplar Street. George Henson has rented the south side of the building from Charles Ray Cooper, who recently purchased the property. Henson and Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Hayes operate another automatic laundry, the Dutch Maid Laundry, at Fifth and Pleasant streets.
