Vote Republican, register Republican

-A A +A

To the editor:
On Nov. 6 we can send a message by voting for Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan, Andy Barr and Thomas Massie, and Bryan Lutz. These gentlemen will bring conservative, common sense solutions to Washington and Frankfort.
If you are one of Harrison County’s registered Democrats who will vote Republican this year, you can send another message on Nov. 6. You can switch your registration to Republican. You can quickly fill out a registration update form where you vote on Nov. 6 to switch. Of course, you can go to the county clerk’s office between now and Dec. 31, 2013, to switch for the 2014 elections, but doing so on Nov. 6 makes it simple.
It used to be that you had to be a registered Democrat in Harrison County to vote in primary elections. This is not true any more. In 2011 and 2012 there were as many contested races in the Republican Primary as the Democrat Primary.
It used to be that winning the Democrat Primary in Harrison County was tantamount to election. Thaty is not true anymore. In 2010 Republicans won two of the three magistrate seats contested that November. The Republican nominee for state senate also carried Harrison County in 2010. If Shain Stephens had run as a Republican in 2010, I believe he would now be sheriff because he would not have had Roger Fuller siphoning off some anti-Hampton votes. In 2014 Harrison County Republicans intend to field a full slate of good, qualified candidates.
Since April, Harrison County has 97 more registered Republicans while there are 13 fewer registered Democrats. Since the primary, Republicans have grown by 28,884 statewide and Democrats by only 18,926. The future belongs to the Republicans. Please join our noble cause by voting and registering asa Republican.
