The search for a possible person swept away by flood waters will resume Thursday afternoon.
Harrison County Search and Rescue crews and county firefighters began searching the area around Richland Creek Wednesday after a call came in to dispatch shortly after noon, with the caller saying he thought he heard someone scream and saw what appeared to be a person being carried down the creek.
Search and Rescue spokesperson Jeana Craft said around 20 emergency workers began searching the northern Harrison County area, looking for signs of any person or animal that had been carried off by the rising and rapid creek waters.
The search was called off later that afternoon around 3 p.m. due to dangerous flooding conditions around the creek, Craft said.
Craft said the search will continue today at 12:30 p.m.
Information will be updated as it becomes available.
