CSM Malone graduated Basic Training and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Knox, Ky. He entered active duty on Feb. 21, 1985.
His first permanent duty assignment was at Fort Carson, Colo. as a self-propelled field artillery mechanic. His assignments included duties as squad leader, recovery chief, shop foreman, platoon sergeant, battery motor sergeant, battalion motor sergeant, senior drill sergeant, battalion operations sergeant, first sergeant, brigade motor sergeant, III Corp artillery G-4 maintenance NCOIC, and battalion CSM.
His military education includes graduation from all NCOES courses to include Drill Sergeant School, First Sergeant Course, and Class 54 USASMA. He was awarded his MBA with honors in 2010.
His assignments included Fort Carson, Colo.; Fort Sill, Okla.; Aberdeen Proving Ground, Md.; and Fort Lee, Va. and his overseas assignments included two tours in Germany, one tour in Korea, and three tours in Southwest Asia.
He was awarded and decorated with the Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Good Conduct Medal (8th award), National Defense Ribbon, Southwest Asia Service Medal, Iraqi Campaign Service Medal, GWOT Service Medal, GWOT Expeditionary Medal, Korean Service Medal, NCO Professional Development Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Kuwait Liberation Medal (Kingdom of Saudi Arabia), Kuwait Liberation Medal (Government of Kuwait), Mechanic Badge, Wheel and Track Drivers Badges, Drill Sergeant Badge, Ordnance Order of Samuel Sharpe, Military Order of Saint Barbara, and a member of the Sergeant Audie Murphy Club.
He is the son of Phyllis Malone of Cynthiana and the late James Malone. He is married to the former Yasmin Ali of Ottawa, Canada and they have one daughter, Kira, 10, and reside at Fort Sill in Lawton, Okla.
