Award winning competition routines to be showcased

The Town and Village Honor Company and Apprentices had one of their most successful competition seasons to date. Those routines, as well as routines representing all of the students at Town and Village will take to the stage at the new Bourbon County High School Auditorium, May 9-11.
“We are so proud of all of our dancers,” stated Town and Village Executive Directors, Lyndy Franklin Smith and Jeromy Smith.  “We had an incredible showing at our regional competitions and took home some very prestigious awards.”  The competition team attended Headliners Competition  in Indianapolis, Ind., Star Systems in Louisville, Ky., and Stage One in Columbus, Ohio.  In two of the three competitions, they were awarded the highest scores of the entire competition, in both age divisions.
“The Overall High Score Awards are an incredible honor to receive,” said Smith.  “And to win multiple overalls in one season, in both age groups - it’s an awesome achievement.” The winning pieces of these awards included the Honor Company Production, “Newsies;” a Small Group Tap, “Sing, Sing, Sing,” featuring Emily Bell, Olivia Eckert, Kelsey Hutchison and Christina Wilson; and a Tap Solo, “To Gene With Love,” danced by Elizabeth McGuire.
Other pieces in the Honor Company/Apprentice repertoire included Classical Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Musical Theatre, Lyrical and Contemporary.  Many of these routines earned Overall High Scores within their respective divisions as well as special awards and individual adjudications.
“We are excited to show these routines, as well as the routines we have been working on in our regular classes at Recital 2013,” Franklin Smith said. “All of our dancers, from age three to high school seniors have been working hard. We can’t wait for our audience to be entertained by our talented students.”
Tickets for the Town and Village Recital are currently on sale. Tickets are being sold online, for reserved seats, at $12 per ticket. Visit www.tandvdance.com for the link to purchase tickets. The online sale will end Thursday, May 9, at 12 p.m. Any remaining tickets will be sold at the door. “We do expect some shows to sell out,” said Smith. “So we are recommending that all our patrons utilize the online sale to ensure they get seats for the performances they would like to attend.”
