Rohs Opera House has new owners.

After waiting years to buy the building, Roger Slade said it took only minutes to sign the paperwork for the historic building on March 19.

“It’s ours now,” Slade said Monday afternoon.

Slade joins James Smith and Phillip Nickerson as the theater’s new owners.

The group is only the third set to own the theater in the last 120 years.

Previous owners included Gerald Whalen, and the Rohs family.

“It’s kind of like starting all over again,” Nickerson said in the theater lobby Monday.

Nickerson said the group has been working every day on the building since they bought it a couple weeks ago.

“It feels more like our child now,” Smith said.

The group had been managing Rohs for over two years before owning it.
