A bill that would ban texting while driving and any cell phone use for drivers under 18 years old, moves on to the state senate this week in Frankfort.

In an 80-16 vote, House Bill 43 was passed in the state House of Representatives last Thursday.

Rep. Tom McKee said his vote in favor of the bill was about saving lives.

“If we save one young person’s life... because we passed that bill... that’s what that ‘yea’ vote was for...” McKee said Friday afternoon.
