To the editor:
On behalf of the Harrison County Commission on Aging, I would like to encourage your support of the vital services which the Harrison County Senior Citizens Center provides. We are fortunate to have a Senior Center where our older family members and friends can be cared for, nurtured and comforted by a supportive and compassionate staff.
We are an aging culture and many of us are seeing to the needs of our parents and grandparents. It is a comfort to know that there are programs and services available for these needs. However, these services come with a price, which is becoming more difficult to meet. As with many things in life, we pay little attention to community resources until we ourselves, or those we love, are in need. While we may not yet require the Senior Citizens Center, its day services, nutrition or exercise programs, we do not have the luxury of assuming that they will always be available.
I am asking you to consider making a monetary donation to the Harrison County Senior Citizens Center. It can be a gift to honor a family member or to remember an older person. The holiday season is a good time to give a gift that will offer much needed and valuable comfort. As well, you will be ensuring that our respect will continue to be given to those who have taught us so much.
