A former Cynthiana man was killed in a single-vehicle wreck Thursday on U.S. 62 West.

Donald D. Stephens, 69, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was a passenger in a 2006 Cadillac STS, which was driven by Robert West, Cynthiana.

The accident occurred about 8:35 a.m. at the entrance to David Manor Subdivision. According to Harrison County Deputy Steve McCauley, the pair were on their way to Georgetown. Witnesses said the vehicle hydroplaned then ran off the road and flipped over several times.

The Harrison County Volunteer Fire Department used the Jaws of Life to free the men from the wreckage.

West was taken to Harrison Memorial Hospital.
