Fillies clinch region berth with win over Nicholas County

The Harrison County Fillies clinched a berth in the 10th region tournament with a win at Nicholas County Thursday night. 

The win clinched the first-round bye in the three-team district and means the Fillies will be in the region tournament, which they host at Shirley Field beginning May 31. The Fillies gathered 10 hits, three walks and took advantage of four Lady Bluejacket errors to score the seven runs. Senior Kaitlyn Shepherd had four hits to lead the Fillies.

This was Harrison County’s 20th win of the season while Nicholas County stands at 10-5.

Connersville Christian Church Upward Soccer registration to begin June 15

Connersville Christian Church Upward Soccer  registration for Kindergarten through sixth grade boys and girls will be held Tuesday, June 15 and Thursday, June 17 from 6-8 p.m., and Saturday, June 19 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Connersville Christian Church.

Archery season comes to a close

Harrison archers finished another successful campaign by competing in the NASP National Tournament held last Friday in Louisville.  Over 9,000 archers from across the nation converged on Louisville to compete. The Harrison County Middle School team, consisting of seventh and eighth grade students tallied a 13th place finish amongst the top 106 teams in the nation.  The High School squad finished a respectable 40th out of 104 teams.

Harrison County was led individually by Keith Northcutt’s 17th place (1,133 shooters) in the boy’s high school division and Madison Roberts 22nd place (811 shooters) in the girl’s middle school division. Other high scores by division are as follows: Brooke Darnell in the high school girl’s division placed 205th (742 shooters), Brandon White placed 69th (1,356 shooters) in the boy’s middle school division, Victoria Switzer placed 249th (1,046 shooters) in the girl’s elementary division, and Zach Turner placed 264th (1,696 shooters) in the boy’s elementary division.

Harrison County archers will hold their banquet on May 26, from 6-7:30 p.m. in the middle school cafeteria.
