Football alumni banquet Aug. 8

The 2009 inductees into the Harrison County Football Alumni Association’s Hall of Fame will be feted on Aug. 8 at the annual Hall of Fame Banquet that will be held at the Harrison County High School cafeteria. A reception in honor of the 2009 inductees will begin at 4 p.m., followed by the banquet at 5.

Inductees this year include Coach William R. McKee, Ottis Tussey, Rick Powell, Ray Stanfield, Gen. Rick Perraut and Alex Barnett. Former football supporter and sports writer Tommy Preston will also be recognized. The HCHS football teams of 1973, 1974 and 1975, coached by Buck Vest, will also be honored.

Dues to join the HCFAA are $10 per year, or $100 for a lifetime membership. Money generated through annual dues are used to fund college scholarships for HCHS football graduates. Banquet tickets are $15 per person and should be purchased as soon as possible.

HCHS cheer camp begins Aug. 3

The Harrison County High School Cheerleading Camp will be held Aug. 3-5 from 9-11:30 a.m. each day at Westside Elementary School. The camp is open to all children entering grades K-8 for the coming 2009-10 school year. Cost for the camp will be $40 per camper, with a family discount available for multiple children from the same family. Campers are urged to register by July 27 to ensure receiving a tee shirt on time. Registration forms are available at Movie Warehouse, Leono’s Restaurant and the Cynthiana Gymnastics Center, or call HCHS Cheer Coach DeDe Shirley at 859-556-0191.

 

HCHS girls’ golf begins practice

Harrison County High School Fillies Golf practice has begun at the Cynthiana Country Club. Coach Kelly Kendall invites any HCMS or HCHS girl who is interested in playing golf this season to contact her at 234-3781. 

Golf practice will be held at the CCC Monday-Thursday beginning at 6 p.m. each night. Players are reminded that they must have a completed physical examination form on hand, as well as a signed parental permission form before they may participate. Those forms can be picked up at the high school front office during regular business hours (9 a.m.-3 p.m.).

 

Future Breds football camp next week

A Future Breds Football Camp will be conducted by HCHS football coach Mark Carroll and his staff next week, July 27-29 from 9 a.m.-noon each day at the HCHS football weight room, located just behind Southside Elementary School. 

The camp is for kids entering grades 1 -5 for the coming 2009-10 school year. Cost for the camp will be $40 per camper. Registration forms can be downloaded and printed at www.thorobredfootball.teampages.com.
