Breds Baseball Camp

Mac Whitaker’s “Boys of Summer” Baseball Camp will be held in the mornings, June 8-11 at the Hilltop Baseball Field. Registration will begin on Monday at 8:30 a.m. with all subsequent camp days starting at 8:45. The camp will conclude at 11:30 each morning. For more information, or to pre-register, contact Coach Whitaker at 234-4006. Cost for the four-day camp is $60 per camper.


Breds Soccer Camp

Coach Nick Hill’s Thorobred Soccer Camp will be held June 15-18 at LeBus Field from 8:30-11:30 a.m., daily. The camp is open to all kids entering grades K-8 for the coming 2009-10 school year. Camp registration forms can be picked up at any of the elementary schools or at Movie Warehouse. Cost for the four-day camp will be $60 per camper.

Ashbrook stars at MSU

Former Harrison County High School baseball standout J.D. Ashbrook has enjoyed a stellar junior season on the diamond at Morehead State University. The centerfielder was just named Second-Team All Ohio Valley Conference. Heading into this week’s OVC Tournament, Ashbrook is hitting .368, with 12 home runs and 32 RBIs. He has a .665 slugging percentage and a .456 on-base percentage. The Eagles swept a three-game series against Southeast Missouri State last weekend to qualify for the OVC Tournament, which began last night in Paducah. The Eagles, third-seed in the tournament, took on sixth seeded Jacksonville State last night in the first round of the double-elimination tournament.

Screening and registration for classes will be held Wednesday, May 27 from 3:30-5:30 p.m. at the Cynthiana Country Club pool. Bring a bathing suit and towel. Fees for each class will be $25 payable at registration. If after registering for a class, a student is unable to participate in that class the fee will be refunded.

The following classes will be offered: Level II- Fundamental Water Skills, June 22-26 from 10:30-11:30 a.m.; Level III- Stroke Development, June 15-19 from 10:15-11:15 a.m.; Level IV- Stoke Improvement**, June 8-18 from 10:15-11:30 a.m.; Level V- Stroke Refinement, June 29-July 3 from 4-6 p.m.; Level VI- Personal Water Safety, June 4-5 from 6-8 p.m., June 6 from 10 a.m. to noon, and June 7 from 1-3 p.m.

** This class includes Level IV Beginners and Level IV Advanced students.

The beginning class of Level I-Introduction to Water Skills will not be offered in the program this year. This class is offered at the Pavilion in Georgetown. The skills included in this class can also be attained through private lessons.

Due to pool space the Level II and Level III classes will be limited to 15 students.
