Doram, Female Athlete of the Month for October
The 75-member Fillies Athletic Club voted for the first time to select an athlete of the month for October.
Volleyball senior Jordan Doram was the winner of October’s honors. The Fillies Athletic Club is made up of female high school student athletes and the athletes are solely responsible for the selection of each month’s player of the month.
The honoree must be a senior. The club members attended a volleyball and soccer match as a group to cheer on and support their fellow athletes.
Doram is the middle hitter for the Fillies volleyball team. She has been a team leader all season in kills and blocks.
Doram is one of seven seniors on the Fillies volleyball squad coached by Bill Faulkner. After graduation this spring Jordan plans to further her education but has not decided which of the offers she will take to play volleyball or basketball or both.
Going into her senior high school year she already has 12 college credit hours as she takes college courses along with the seven periods of the high school day. Her grade point average is 3.6. She is the daughter of Tish (Williams) Doram and the late Michael Doram. Her mother and her sister Sherese along with her grandmother Carrie Williams are Jordan’s biggest fans attending games and matches whether they are home or away, summer, winter or fall.

Garnett to host Fillies
Softball Camp Oct. 25-26
Harrison County High School softball coach Christine Garnett and her staff are hosting a softball camp on Friday, Oct. 25, and Saturday, Oct. 26. The camp is for girls in grades three through seven and will be held at the Harrison County Softball Field (Shirley Field). In case of inclement weather, the camp will be moved to the Harrison County High School gymnasium.
Pre-registration is available by picking up a form at Fifth Third Bank or by arriving on Friday night, Oct. 25, at 5:30 p.m. The camp time is 6-8 p.m. on Friday and 12-3 p.m. on Saturday afternoon. The cost of the camp is $60 per camper.
Campers will work with the Fillies softball players and coaches on hitting, base running and fielding as well as play games. There will also be other activities designed to improve the campers’ over all softball game.
