Soccer Fillies win two more, run record to 4-1
The Harrison County Fillies defeated region rival Montgomery County last Wednesday in Mt. Sterling in a shut out for goal keeper Chelsea Ingram.
The 0-4 Lady Indians have only scored one goal in four matches and the Fillies’ defense battled to keep the ball out of their goal.
Amelia Bolin scored both Harrison County goals as she was assisted by Hannah Thomas and Taylor Fry.  Both goals were on cross passes in front of the Montgomery County goal.
The Fillies won what was the biggest match of the season to date as they defeated previously undefeated Lawrence County 3-1 on the Hilltop Saturday. The match was played in hot, humid, threatening weather but the Fillies were up to the task. Bolin continued her hot streak as she scored two goals again, like Wednesday, on assists from Fry and Thomas.
Fry had the other goal as the Tennessee Martin-bound senior continued her outstanding play in her last year on the Hilltop.
“We are beginning to jell as a team,” said Coach Kim Jenkins. “We had a couple of early setbacks with injuries but we are getting more familiar with our positions and we our playing well as a team.”
The Fillies host three straight matches in the Athletic Complex as they welcome region rivals, George Rogers Clark on Wednesday, Calvary Christian on Thursday and Bourbon County on Monday.
