Football mini-camp
is on the Hilltop this week
Ingles Stadium will be the site of the Harrison County football Thorobreds’ mini camp this Thursday and Friday.
The camp will be held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. each day.  The camp is for incoming freshmen and all upperclassmen who will play football at Harrison County High School this fall.
The football coaching staff will work on drills and fundamentals in order to improve technique and stamina.
“We hope that this two-day session will be a refresher course for the upperclassmen and education for the freshmen so when practice starts in earnest we can spend less time on the basics and more on improvement,” said Coach Jim Carr.
There will also be work on the seven-on-seven offensive and defensive passing games. All participants must have completed a physical form for the coaches in order to take part in the mini camp.

Harrison County Youth Football needs volunteer coaches
The Harrison County Youth Football Association is gearing up for its 2013 football season. The HCYFA is actively searching for coaches for all age groups (flag, lower and upper tackle division). All positions are available. Any coach who has volunteered in the past must re-apply and be approved by the HCYFA Board.
The league depends on the efforst of its volunteer coaches who give of their time to provide a safe, fun and exciting learning environment for the players.
Often these volunteers are parents of players or members of the community who have football knowledge and experience that they are willing to share.
Anyone interested in coaching, contact David Conner, commissioner, at 859-588-4471, Chris Turley, deputy commissioner, 859-588-1923, or Joe Cochran, secretary, 502-930-9571.

Harrison County boys golf tryouts
to be held Monday, July 15
Tryouts for the boys’ golf team will be held on Monday, July 15.
In order to participate in the tryouts, the player must have an up-to-date physical for the 2013 season.  The physical form must be with the player for the tryout or they will not be able to participate. Forms are available from Rosemary Whitaker in the athletic department of the high school. The form must be signed by a parent before the physical can be given so a parent must sign ahead of time or be there for the physical.
If an athlete needs a ride, contact Whitaker and she will assist you. This physical is for all HCHS athletes who plan to compete in 2013-14 not only the golfers.
The girls’ golf sign up will be Wednesday, July 17, at 10 a.m. at the Cynthiana Country Club. The girls must also have a completed physical form with them to sign up.
