Fillies Senior Night, Breds Fence of Fame/Alumni Night this week
The Harrison County Fillies will celebrate Senior Night on Thursday, May 2, when the Nicholas County Lady Jackets visit Shirley Field for a 5 p.m. district battle.
Ashley Coppage, 3B/1B, Morgan Florence, C/IF, and Yasmeen Smith, OF, will each be honored as the three seniors on this year’s Fillies squad.
The next evening, Friday, May 3, the Thorobreds will hold two events in one evening when the Scott High Eagles visit the Hilltop.
The festivities begin around 5 p.m. when any Cynthiana/Harrison County baseball alum would like to take a swing at a few pitches.
The Cynthiana Harrison County Baseball Alumni Association will have a hospitality tent set up for people to meet and greet.
This is a good time to join the association and help the cause of baseball in Harrison County.  Last year the group gave five $300 scholarships to seniors who were furthering their educations and playing baseball in college.
Also, before the game, the Harrison County High School Fence of Fame will have one new addition.  2006 graduate J.D. Ashbrook will be honored in a ceremony that is scheduled for 6:40 p.m.
Ashbrook played for the Thorobreds from 2001 through 2006. During his career he batted .384 with 19 home runs, 123 RBI and 39 doubles.
He went on to Morehead State University where, as a senior, he was all OVC, a Ping All American and was on the All South Region team. He went on to sign with the Chicago White Sox and played a couple of seasons in their farm system before retiring from baseball.
