Senior Bred to play in Battle at the Border

Harrison County Thorobred football senior Chris Young has been selected to represent the state of Kentucky as a participant in the first annual Border Bowl Championship Football Game.

This new event showcases high school senior all-star football players from eastern Kentucky and eastern Tennessee in a friendly rivalry game.

The 2008 Battle at the Border will be played this Saturday in James H. Taylor II Stadium on the campus of the University of the Cumberlands in Williamsburg, KY. Kick-off is scheduled for 1 p.m.

Young is anticipated to start at center for the eastern Kentucky team.

Warmouth honored as Gridiron Great

Each week during the high school football season, WTVQ-36 in Lexington selects a player who exemplifies what a great high school athlete should be and bestows upon that young man the title of Gridiron Great.

Harrison County Thorobred senior Bryant Warmouth was chosen for the honor after Harrison Countys 31-30 win over the Greenup County Musketeers in the quarterfinals of the 2007 Class 4A KHSAA Commonwealth Gridiron Bowl on Nov. 23.

Warmouth scored on a 61-yard touchdown run and recorded a very important fourth quarter stop against Greenup to help send the Breds into the semifinals against Lexington Catholic.

Warmouth, along with his fellow Gridiron Greats, will be honored at a banquet hosted by WTVQ-36 at the Four Points Sheraton in Lexington on Thursday, Jan. 17.
