Carr 21st in State Cross
Country Meet Saturday

Junior Grant Carr took advantage of a beautiful day to run and finished 21st in the AA State Cross Country meet at the Kentucky Horse Park.
Carr was the only Harrison County runner who qualified and established himself as one to be contended with in future races.
“Grant had an outstanding race,” noted Coach Danny Simpson. “While it was not his best time of the year at 17:43, it was one of the finest performances by a Thorobred runner in the state meet for years.”
Simpson went on to note that Carr will be considered as one of the state’s better distance runners for this year. There were over 240 runners in the race, which was won by Nick Laureano of Lexington Catholic in 16:42. North Oldham won the team trophy followed by Bullitt East, Edmonson County, Covington Catholic and South Oldham.

Bowlers in action in Louisville on
Saturday in 18-team tournament

The Harrison County bowlers headed west on Saturday to compete in a strong 18-team tournament in Louisville.  2012 state champ Scott County, Manual, St. Xavier, Trinity, Pleasure Ridge Park and 12 other teams battle with the Harrison County bowling teams for nearly eight and one-half hours with few breaks in between matches.
The team scoring was very favorable for the Thorobreds and the Fillies as they finished third in the boys’ competition and eighth in the girls’.
Individually, the top bowlers were Gregory Dick and Shaylee Carter as each of them finished 10th in the singles contest.
“We battled hard all day with little time for a break,” commented Coach Petey Reynolds. “Neither team gave up and both showed heart and determination all day long.”
Harrison County hits the lanes again this week with a Tuesday match at Bryan Station, which will be the final one until after Thanksgiving when they host Henry Clay on Nov. 26 at Galactic Alley.
