Fall sports sign ups at
River Road Park are beginning
The sign ups for fall baseball and soccer have begun at River Road Park and will continue through Aug. 24.  After Aug. 24, a late fee will be charged on entries.
The Recreation Office will be open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. and 1-5 p.m.
Director Rick Chasteen said he would like to start the baseball league the week of Labor Day and also start as quickly as possible on the soccer leagues.
“The faster everyone gets signed up the earlier we can get all needed equipment handed out and the practice and games can begin,” Chasteen emphasized. The leagues are for girls and boys ages from K-through Little League.

Volleyball Fillies begin season
with whitewash of St. Patrick
The Harrison County Fillies volleyball team defeated the Maysville St. Patrick Saints Tuesday night in straight sets 25-7, 25-15 and 25-22 to begin the year with a 1-0 record.
The first two sets were not close as the scores indicate and the third game was not really as close as it looks.
The Fillies were superior on the front line with junior Jordan Doram dominating the net.
“We were just stronger at the net,” commented Coach Bill Faulkner after the match. “We still have to work on some things but I thought we were also improved in serve receiving looking better than we had in practice. This and serving are two areas that we still need to focus our work on in practice.”
The junior varsity also began the season with a straight set victory closing out the Saints 21-14 and 21-10.
The Fillies hit the road for a Thursday battle with Villa Madonna before returning home on Monday and Tuesday for matches with Powell County and region rival Montgomery County.
