Sparks to coach at Mississippi College

Mississippi College head football coach Norman Joseph has announced the hiring of Jason Sparks as the Choctaws new defensive line coach.

Were very happy to add Jason to our coaching staff, said Joseph. He has experience with our defensive scheme and his enthusiasm and coaching style are a great fit for our defense. Im anxious to see him work with our defensive front.

Sparks, a 1999 graduate of Harrison County High School, will work with a defensive front led by All-ASC senior defensive end Brannon Willisson.

Sparks spent last year at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College where they went 12-0 and won a national championship.

At MGCCC, Sparks worked with the defensive line where he coached three Division I signees and the conference Player of the Year. He also was the assistant strength and conditioning coordinator.

Prior to MGCCC, Sparks spent one year at Albright College as the assistant offensive line coach and the junior varsity head coach. At Albright, Sparks also provided special teams support and helped with the strength and conditioning program.

Sparks spent the 2005 season at Eastern Kentucky University.

He played four seasons at Morehead State University where he was a three-year starter at defensive tackle. During his four years, Morehead was twice ranked among the nations top five defensives statistically.

Sparks received his bachelors degree in broadcasting technology with an emphasis in radio.
