Southern States Cooperative will review its operations at a series of local annual meetings, including the upcoming meeting for members of Southern States Lexington Cooperative, Inc. – Cynthiana, Lexington and Paris branches.
“Fiscal 2012 was an extremely challenging year for Southern States Cooperative,” said president and CEO Thomas R. Scribner. “The winter of 2012 was the mildest since 1932 and the second warmest since 1895. The warm temperatures significantly impacted our earnings, as agricultural producers needed less feed-related products and rural homeowners burned fewer gallons of home heating fuels. During fiscal 2013, the corporate direction will be to focus on the entire customer experience for current, new and prospective customers. It is our belief that with a customer-focused sales strategy, 2013 will be a great year.”
Southern States Lexington Cooperative, Inc. – Cynthiana, Lexington and Paris branches will hold their annual membership meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 14, at 1236 US 27 Highway South, Cynthiana. The business meeting begins at 7:30 p.m.
The cooperative’s management will use the meeting to report on both local and company-wide operations, as well as projected budget results for next year. Local board members will be elected and retiring board members will be recognized.
Board nominees include: Group 1 (Bourbon County) – Jimmy Florence and Jason Thornberry; Group 2 (Fayette County) – James A. Wade and Benny Webb.
“The annual meeting is the best single opportunity to outline our plans for the future to our membership and discuss our progress in meeting our financial goals,” noted Dale Duckworth, Michael Napier and Patrick Stephens, managers of Cynthiana, Lexington and Paris branches, respectively.
