To the editor:
Now that all closing reports have been sent in, the Cynthiana/Harrison County Trust, Inc. (Museum), would like to publicly thank those individuals and organizations that helped to make the Traveling Smithsonian Exhibition, “Journey Stories” a success. The official count of those registering in the guest book was 915 visitors, with 477 visitors attended the living history special events. Our attendance to the Museum was 12 percent over the same time last year.
We thank the Cynthiana/Harrison County Chamber of Commerce for use of its space for the Exhibition. A special thanks to Biancke’s Restaurant for its support in bringing visitors to our local Museum on Walnut Street. Without the use of the Rohs Theater many of our special events wouldn’t have been possible. The special considerations given us from The Public Library, Sign Systems, LeBus Storage, Seldon Renaker Inn, Harrison County schools, The Cynthiana Democrat, and The Buzz was most appreciated. WCYN Radio and those connected with Coffee Break allowed us to bring in many visitors. Our city and county officials and employees are to be thanked for their support and help in getting the Exhibition set up.
We especially thank the Kentucky Humanities Council for its assistance in helping us obtain the grant that brought the Exhibition to Cynthiana. Monies used to match that grant were obtained from donations from individuals, The Gamma Beta Phi Sorority and the Cynthiana/Harrison County United Fund. It is appropriate at this time for us to urge people to give to the United Fund during its current fund drive. The work that this organization supports is most worthy of our support. We are very grateful for their continued support for our Museum and the special consideration that was given for the Smithsonian Exhibition.
Finally, a special thanks to all those individuals who gave of their time to volunteer as docents for the Exhibition. Your interest and encouragement were appreciated.
