Scott Smith has formally announced his candidacy for the 2010 Cynthiana City Commissioners’ race.
Smith is a 1991 high school graduate from Bowling Green, Ky. He moved to Cynthiana in 2005 with his wife, Karey Mattox-Smith, a Cynthiana native. Smith has three children: Cynthia, 15, Camryn, 9, and Wesley Graham, 5.
Smith is employed at the 3M Cynthiana plant, where he has worked as an IT application analyst for four years. Smith is also a former business owner of Smith Web Design Services, LLC, which was sold in the fourth quarter of 2009.
He is a member of Indian Creek Baptist Church as well as a number of other community organizations.
Smith said he hopes to bring a fresh perspective to the commissioners’ office. He said he believes that recent movements within Cynthiana have positioned the community to grow in a positive direction. He said Cynthiana leaders need to establish well-researched plans, timely decisions and communication with residents.
By electing true work horses into leadership positions, Cynthiana will prosper and restore its small-town charm, he said.
