The Harrison County Soil and Water Conservation District has five scholarships available for 2013. Through the local conservation district office, two $1,000 scholarships are available to apply for. These scholarships are open to any high school senior or graduate who is a resident of Harrison County and will be enrolled in a minimum of six credit hours ata two or four year accredited institution in a conservation, environmental, and/or science program of studies. Applications are due to the conservation district by April 8, 2013.
The Kentucky Association of Conservation Districts also has three other scholarships available through the conservation district. Each of these scholarships are for $1,000 for students interested in agriculture and natural resource fields of program studies. Applications for the following scholarships are due by March 1, 2013 and will require a signature from the local conservation district office.
• George Crafton Memorial Scholarship: open to any high school senior.
• State Soil Conservation of Natural Resources Scholarship for Betty Barrick/Non-Traditional students: open to any student that is at least 25 years old and pursuing an undergratuate degree.
• State Soil Conservation of Natural Resources Scholarship for College students: open to any student that is already in college pursuing an undergraduate degree (no age requirement on this scholarship).
