The River Road Bass Club held its annual awards dinner on Saturday, Feb. 1, at Ruddles Mill-Shawhan Volunteer Fire Department. The following awards were presented: “Fishermen of the Year” went to Kenny Burden and Mike Dampier with a total weight of 55.135 lbs. The “Big Fish” award was received by Jamie Hampton with a weight of 6.14 lbs. The total weight of all the club’s catches weighed in at 462.21 pounds with a total of 344 keeper fish.
Many of the club members won individual awards for wins at lakes and creeks fished.
This year also brought sadness to the club when founder and long-time angler, Bobby Perkins, passed away. The club membership will host an Open Tournament in Bobby’s memory on Sept. 27 at Stoner Creek in Paris.
Boats will launch from Ike’s Dock located at the end of Stoner Avenue. Call Kenny Burden at 298-1476 or Gary Fryman at 707-6861 for further information concerning the club.
