To the editor:
“That this nation under God shall have a new birth of freedom, and that government of the people by the people for the people shall not perish from the earth”. Those words were spoken by Abraham Lincoln in his Gettysburg Address after a great battle that threatened the existence of our nation. Today we are engaged in a different type of battle that also threatens our nation. Apathy. Would we have the problems of today if we had taken the time to learn and understand the issues our state and nation are faced with, and voted?
Thomas Jefferson wrote, “if a nation expects to be ignorant and free, in a state of civilization, it expects what never was or never will be”.
Understand the issues, put the United States of America first and vote.
