Public building should be smoke free

-A A +A

To the editor:
I recently stopped by the Harrison County Water Association to take care of some business that could not be accomplished by phone or mail.  When I entered the building I was dismayed to be met with the strong smell and taste of tobacco smoke. The building literally reeked of it.  I was there less than 5 minutes but that was long enough to get a headache. With what we know about the health risks associated with smoking and breathing second hand smoke, I am appalled that a public service facility like this has such total disregard (and disrespect)  for it’s patrons, some of whom I am sure are accompanied by small children.
It’s not like we have the option of going someplace else to do our water business.
