Harrison County Middle School went on security lockdown Thursday afternoon after a wild rumor spread that a convicted murderer had escaped and was seen on the premises.
The Cynthiana Police Department is still investigating how the rumor got started.
Soon after Harrison County High School launched a mock lockdown to test its emergency procedures, a report was dispatched to the city police that an escaped convict, Bass Webb, had been seen trying to enter the middle school.
