Plan to burn Walnut Street buildings has been scrapped

To the editor:

In September 2007, St. Edward Church submitted a petition to the Kentucky State Fire Commission for permission to burn two houses on North Walnut Street.

We were as surprised as anyone as to its approval. There were three conditions placed on the control burn: remove the vinyl siding and asphalt shingles and an asbestos inspection and abatement. All of these conditions were accomplished.
