The Harrison County grand jury returned only one indictment during its final session of the quarter and passed five cases to the next grand jury.

Zachary Pence, 24, faces a single-count indictment on a charge of theft by unlawful taking, $500 or more but less than $10,000.

According to the grand jury indictment, Pence took moveable property belonging to Shaun Wendt between Jan. 26 and Jan 30.

The case was presented to the grand jury by Harrison County Sheriff’s Deputy Dean Hutchison.

Hutchison said Pence is accused of taking corral panel hinge pens and steel frame work for a large show tent owned by Shaun Wendt, who owns property on Whitson  Road.

According to Hutchison, Wendt operates the animal petting zoo at the Kentucky Horse Park during the Festival of Lights.

“Some of the property was recovered,” Hutchison said, “but he’s still missing a lot.”

Bond for Pence was set at $2,500.

The next grand jury session will be July 2.
