Omega chapter of Beta Sigma Phi had a candle lit ceremony initiating Cheryl Case and Kay Cox into pledge membership on Nov. 4 at the home of Betty Kay McCullough. The ideals of life, learning, and friendship were read from the Ritual book of Beta Sigma Phi. After six months of pledge training, the two pledges will become full members, after a Ritual of Jewels ceremony to be held in the spring.
Following the opening ritual, roll call was answered by sharing each member’s favorite Thanksgiving dish. Not one person said that it was turkey.
Service committee announced that donations will be given to the local food pantry later in the year. Each member will participate.
Social committee distributed invitations for the annual Christmas dinner and gift exchange to be held Dec. 2 at the home of Rosemary Lucas. Also, members were reminded that we meet each third Friday of the month at Bianckes for breakfast.
New members were added to existing committees. They also drew names for secret sisters. Their pledge training will take place following each monthly meeting.
The cultural program was given by Rosemary Lucas. She chose the subject of Autumn, with all it’s colors and happenings. She discussed traditions, food, family, and friends. Lucas had an appropriate game for all members to play, with Cheryl Case winning the prize for having the most correct answers.
Pumpkin spice cookies and recipe cards were given to all members.
Bonnie Teater, president, led the members in the closing ritual and the Mizpah.
