* The Mirror, Aug. 15, 1903 - The soldiers entertained the citizens at an informal reception and campfire at their headquarters in Riverside Park Wednesday. Punch and cake were served in Col. Williams tent and while the guests enjoyed the hospitality of the gallant soldiers, the hand discoursed lively patriotic and popular airs. Everyone present enjoyed the novelty and freedom of the entertainment. (The troops were the State Militia which bad been called in to protect the prisoners and witnesses of the Curt Jett and Tom White murder trial.
