*Log Cabin, Nov. 11, 1905 -- “The first newspaper in Cynthiana was the ‘Guardian of Liberty’ published from Jan. 18, 1817 to March 13, 1819, possibly longer by John G. Keenan in the Redmon building on Court Square. ‘The Cynthiana Advertiser’ was established in 1821, continuing until 1827, ‘The Gleaner’ and the ‘Visitor,’ the latter a literary paper, were published from 1830 to about 1838. ‘The Cynthiana News’ was established in 1850 by John Atkinson and was purchased in 1851 by Major A. J. Morey.”
