* Cynthiana Democrat, April 12, 1917 - “Snowy Easter Sunday (April 8) Easter Sunday opened with a cold rain which turned to snow before noon and continued until early evening. That night the ground froze, and on Monday the pavements were slick with a thin coating of ice. All thought of Easter finery went by the board and the few people who ventured out went about in winter garments, shivering and miserable.”
