* Cynthiana Democrat, Sept. 18, 1930 -(Drought of 1930) - Falmouth city water works is furnishing great amounts of water daily to the L & N Railroad Company at this point. Owing to the drought, there is no available water at Cynthiana or Paris and all trains passing over this division are taking water at this place for their engines. Falmouth is now the only place that trains can take water between Covington and Winchester, a distance of 100 miles. Winchester gets her water from the Kentucky River at Boonesboro and Falmouth pumps her supply from the Licking River.
